"A beautiful, authentic and rustic place full of character. Everything about the stay felt special, and it really delivers if you’re looking for something real rather than a modern, generic apartment. The space is huge for a couple, which makes it feel even more relaxing. There’s also rooftop access, simple with just two chairs and a table, but we had drinks up there and it was really pleasant and private. The location is brilliant, we were delighted to realise that the ferry from Birgu to Valletta is literally at the end of the road, less than a 5-minute walk from the apartment, which made getting around incredibly easy. We’d seen reviews mentioning it could be cold, but that’s clearly been addressed, there’s extra bedding and two heaters, and it was extremely cosy during our stay. Overall, an amazing place. Don’t be put off by other reviews, this is an old building with charm, not a brand-new hotel, and that’s exactly what makes it so good."

"There were just a couple of small issues, the shower head broke and we didn’t receive a response at the time. The host has since explained they were in hospital, which we completely understand and appreciate, though having a backup contact or number in place would be helpful for situations like this. The water pressure was also a bit low, and there wasn’t quite enough hot water for a full bath. For an even better experience, it would be great to have a few thoughtful touches on arrival, bottled water in the fridge (especially as shops were closed and tap water isn’t recommended), a few tea bags with some milk, and slightly fresher bedding."

"The apartments exactly matched the photos. There was plenty of space for three people. Since we visited in winter, we turned on the heaters at night, and it was nice and warm. The area was beautiful, and everything was comfortable. There were two large terraces, perfect for sitting with a glass of wine in the evening."

"We weren't prepared for the Type G outlets and didn't bring an adapter, which made charging our laptops inconvenient. Now that we know, we'll definitely be prepared next time!"

"Absolutely beautiful place. I appreciated the age of the building and character, etc. Birgu is a very beautiful place and lots to see. The location of the little house is perfect with easy access to the ferry to go over to valetta waterfront, etc. Museums close by and a big market up the road on a Tuesday. There are plenty of things to do and places to eat or drink close by. The host was absolutely wonderful and fixed a small issue promptly without hesitation, which we greatly appreciated. Such a kind-hearted soul and was a pleasure to meet. I would 100% recommend staying here as not only is the price good but if you appreciate the beauty of places then this is where you want to be heading. Book!"
