Overlooking the Douro River, this Portuguese house offers free Wi-Fi and air-conditioned rooms. Casa De Canilhas has an outdoor pool with a sun-lounger terrace. "Beautiful old-style Portuguese house on the Douro river. The views are absolutely stunning. There is a vineyard in front of the house where you can go walk around. The breakfast is nice and goes perfect with the view. I really recommend if you want to have a quiet stay with great views over the valley."

"The staff seems entirely impersonal. The breakfast was served to the rooms, while this was fine when the sun was out and you could eat on the terrace, on the day it rained we sat inside our room eating breakfast. There are limited places to eat, especially on a Sunday."

"The location -walking distance to the beach was great. Peaceful atmosphere, very chill. Very well equipped with everything you need. Magnificent views from the room. Friendly staff, although it was off-season so everything was a little slow."

The table by the swimming pool had a fabulous vista down the valley to Vizela and beyond; perfect for watching the sunset directly ahead whilst bats fly around and sipping the delicious wine made by the family. We regret not bringing some home! The owner went the extra mile for us, for example taking our laundry and ironing even in the middle of a heatwave"
