Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the Horta Da Coutada is a small guest house offering rustic accommodation in the pretty village of Telheiro, 1 km from the medieval town of Monsaraz. This small property features 9 units comprised between apartments, suites and double bedrooms. All rooms have been decorated to reflect the regional styles with many local furnishings and artifacts. Guests at the Horta Da Coutada can relax by the outdoor swimming pool or explore the pretty gardens. There is an organic kitchen garden and fruit orchards, where guests can sample the home-grown fruits of the season including figs, pomegranates and oranges. The owners will gladly provide fruits or juices from the gardens. At one end of the courtyard is the Sala do Jardim – the garden room. This is the perfect place to enjoy your continental breakfast or enjoy a fine wine whilst admiring the pretty views. Horta Da Coutada is ideally placed to explore this beautiful region. There are many hiking trails in the area or you can explore the countryside by bicycle. The Xerez Cromlechs Megalith Museum, the Monsaraz Castle, the Hermitage of Sta. Catarina and the Hermitage of São Bento are within easy reach. There are also 3 vineyards in the area, perfect for a spot of wine tasting.

"We loved everything about it! The very elaborate local breakfast (including enough choice for vegans, the comfortable spacious room, the soft towels, the quietness of the surroundings… and the bed was amazing, we slept so well!"

"Located in an idyllic spot near the old city of Monsaraz, Horta Da Coutada’s grounds and surroundings are absolutely beautiful. Felt very much connected to nature, it was magical to look at the stars at night. Cosy rooms, kitchenette, wonderful staff! Patrizio made us feel very much welcome and at home! Generous breakfast spread."

"We recognise it was out if season, but the communal area felt closed. Beautiful fireplace without a welcoming fire. Far too much food and variety on offer at breakfast whilst the hot eggs were cold. Random refreshments in the room."

"This was a really stylish apt in a gorgeous set up. The grounds were pretty and well kept. Absolutely stunning Breakfast was incredible. The set up, the decor and the presentation and quality. Perfect"

"The staff were very friendly and welcoming, making the stay feel warm from the start. The place is cozy and invites you to relax. The location is great, just a short drive from Monsaraz, and a perfect base to explore the area by car. Breakfast was definitely a highlight, with very good variety and quality. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel and would be happy to return."
"Parking was quite full, on gravel and dirt ground, fine in dry weather, but cars are left exposed to sun or rain. There are some covered spots, though limited. I didn’t see an option for charging an electric car, but to be fair I didn’t ask. Not a deal breaker, just a small minus."
"We had 2 suites for 7 nights, the suite with the private terrace was outstanding, we really enjoyed making barbecue there. It is 5 minutes from a beautiful river beach and the pool at the property is very lovely. The breakfast was rich and generous. The staff is kind and hardworking, we were constantly greeted with the most welcoming attitude, nothing was too much for them."
"Nothing major- we will be back - this is just a comment : I think there is 1 staff missing: full season, around 15 rooms and only 3 staff on the ground to make breakfast, clean, do reception work, bartend - they are really performant but I can say that it resulted in details being missed. In 7 days, our bed was not changed and our floor not well cleaned ."
