"Lovely pool in a beau garden with coconuts, bananas, a lemur, a rat, geckos, and a lizard. Very nice swings in front of the house. This apartment are unique"

"The place is in a very good position because is 3 min by walk to the sea, with a lot of restaurants nearby. The breakfast it was very tasty with fresh juice, crepes, coffee ecc… It was a very quite place with and amazing pool and the greatest stuff ever. They kindly let us stay in the room and pool over the check out time. Highly recommended"

"A short two-minute walk to the beach, laundry facilities on the property, staff are very friendly and helped me find the nearest ATM and supermarket. My room was spacious and comfy, and there are areas to hang out by the pool or outside of your room."

"For longer stays, the breakfast gets a little repetitive as it's mainly the same every day but there are cheap options to eat nearby."

"Friendly and nice staff, proximity to an amazing beach and very good restaurants (we ate often at Sipano or ordered from Flames of Zanzibar), very nice pool, the kids also had fun in the jacuzzi, tiny and friendly wildilife visiting the garden which made for great pictures and thrilling for the kids who names two lizards The Rock and The Geko"

"Mawingu Lodge was a comfortable and quiet place to stay as a base for our local dives. The communication was excellent from my first enquiry, our transport from the airport was organised and assistance was offered for booking tours locally or elsewhere on Zanzibar. The staff were lovely, helpful and attentive, and any issues we had were dealt with promptly (no hot water initially but an electrician was called as soon as we notified them). Daily breakfast was delicious (those omelettes!), and it was just so peaceful, an utter delight. Bear in mind it is budget accommodation but if you're good with that, you can't go wrong with Mawingu."

"We had an amazing stay. One of the highlights was definitely the location — absolutely perfect. The hotel is ideally situated right next to the beach. It offered the best of both worlds: easy access to everything we needed, yet calm enough to fully unwind. The staff were exceptional — always friendly, attentive, and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure all our needs were met. Although there had been a fire the week before our arrival, it did not affect our stay in any way, as breakfast was smoothly arranged at the hotel next door, which worked perfectly for us. The food was great, the atmosphere was tranquil, and both our room and the common areas were always spotless. Everything exceeded our expectations, and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again."

"Asali house is a dream. This is our second time staying there after 2 years, and the house is still in impeccable condition. The location is perfect.
