"Good Hotel considering the area. Very friendly staff, and good breakfast. The bed was surprisingly comfortable and the AC very silent."

"I was in the main Firefly, not West Wing and loved it. Big airy room, little green oasis and nice pool to dip in. I hardly left the place. Great food too."

"We stayed at the new “west wing” which is right across the road from the original firefly. We felt we got the best of both worlds: clean, new rooms with airco (and we stayed at the back so no noise roads), a second pool but also the great atmosphere and facilities of firefly. We just loved the whole setting and vibe; i even bought one of the robes from the room :-)."

"Sehr ruhige Lage zum Entspannen nach einem Safaritag. Schöner Garten mit Swimming Pool. Grosse Zimmer. Sauber und gepflegt. Sehr freundliches Personal. Gute Auswahl an Speisen (Buffet). War vor 7 Jahren schon einmal hier und würde auch in Zukunft wieder hier logieren. Guter Ausgangspunkt für die Exkursion in den Ngorongoro Krater."

"Basecamp Eco Lodge is perfectly situated at the beautiful white sand beach of Utende in the middle of a protected marine park. No mass tourism yet on Mafia therefore a tranquil place to fully relax and enjoy the high level of comfort and luxury that Basecamp offers with beautiful new boutique rooms in the middle of an authentic African experience in the village next to it. As the beautiful Chole bay and marine park are just in front of the lodge it is very easy to take one of the many tours.. You can easily spend 1-2 weeks without being bored as Mafia island has much experiences to offer.. There are a few diving schools in Utende at walking distance. Also a few small Swahili restaurants along the coast. The Basecamp restaurant also served a diverse and tasty menu which changes every day. The staff of Basecamp is amazing - they really make you feel at home and take care of everything you might need. Highly recommended!"
